"We would like to approach this video with a no BS attitude. I want to focus on the riding and the rough environment the riders are in. This video will show that Seth's equipment is tough enough to make it through less than ideal conditions but also allows him to push his riding to the edge."

"...a dark and gritty visual piece combining creepy landscapes and the expert riding skills needed to conquer the Shore."

Atmosphere & mood

I have to give my thanks to Vancouver's North Shore. It is the place that started my MTB filmmaking and photography career - it sparked friendships and professional partnerships on the trails behind my bars and my camera. But strangely enough, in contrast to the great times spent in those hills, the Shore's terrain and landscapes are not particularly welcoming. I find B.C woods hostile, uninviting with its masses of trees, cold light and few lines of sight making things feel claustrophobic. There is no doubt that the riding here is incredible and as a filmmaker I have been blessed with some incredible conditions during the warm months of the year. I can't deny that it can be a magical place... but when the fog and rain rolls in I can't help but feel like I've been transported to a different dimension; that is exactly what I would like to convey in this film: a dark and gritty visual piece combining creepy landscapes and the expert riding skills needed to conquer the Shore.

Some words I would use to describe the atmosphere and the mood of this project would be:

Unwelcoming... Fog... Uncomfortable... Rain... Cold... Intense... Otherworldly... Sloppy... Scary... Darkness... Slick... Intimidating.

Video Timeline

We are looking for non scripted first take impressions and reactions blended through a mix of cinematic and behind the scenes b-roll footage.

1: Visual introduction to the shore and its weather conditions. (Scenery).

2: Seth preparing his kit, getting bike ready, getting dressed, sharing a few thoughts on what we're about to do and where we are.

3: Capture Seth's first impressions of conditions after first few takes.

4: Mix of riding on the Shore.

5: Seth phones second rider to come ride. (Mid point in video).

6: Seth and rider meet up in parking lot.

7: Both ride together for the last half of the video.

8: I will let Seth and rider choose their go-to after-ride activity to wrap up the video (ie going for a beer).

9: Sponsor logos + video credits.

10: Fade to black!

Music

This song is gritty, has a good mix of pacing and the lyrics have imagery that connects to the video's theme to tie it together.
